literacy committee

I love the Paulo Freire quote, “Reading is not walking on the words; it's grasping the soul of them.” I'm passionate about reading and books in all forms, which is why I wanted to be a member of the literacy committee. I have helped organize a number of events, including: get caught reading, poetry trees, readathons, and celebrating a variety of international literacy days. Most of all I just want to help spread a love of reading throughout our school community!

bullying awareness committee

I have been a member of this committee since joining ISNS. If students don't feel safe at school, there is no way we can expect them to be happy, let alone learn. This committee has tried to help student raise awareness about the forms of bullying, the impact is has on children, and what they can do to take action to stop bullying in its tracks.

PYP exhibition Mentor

I have had the privilege of helping successfully mentor two groups of students as they planned, created, and presented their final PYP exhibition projects. Helping students realise their potental during this process is incedibly rewarding and I am very excited to do it all again with the students next year!

retro videogame club

I helped develop and organize a club where students  collaborate with one another to explore the fascinating history of video games, learn new technology related vocabulary, and play a variety of types of video games from the 80’s and 90’s. Students build their thinking, social, and communication skills by developing strategies to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles.

I love the idea that it doesn’t take one person only to achieve your potential. It takes a village, it takes a community, a street, a teacher, a mother.
